Overview
I used to run a songcircle about every other month in the East Village.
If you are not familiar with the songcircle format, it is a great approach for both performers and audiences. Instead of 3 performers each playing independent 40 minute sets in a row, all 3 performers play at once alternating one song each and then back again for 2 hours. Often at NYC gigs, when one person finishes playing, the people who came to see that person leave without sticking around for the next act. With the song circle format, the audience for all three acts is there for all three acts. For example, if each performer brings in 3 audience members, that means each performer is potentially performing for 6 new people.
I may bring it back again at some point. If you are interested in playing and can get 3 or 4 people to come out to the East Village on a weeknight, drop me a line.
